Philip Robinson, Chief Inspector of the Catholic Schools Inspectorate, said: “It is good to see that both Ofsted and the DfE have responded constructively to the consultation and have made significant improvements to their proposals in each of the key proposal areas.

“There is much to digest in this consultation response - the consultation included the toolkit, and this is the first time we have seen the operating guide. Our main concern with the operating guide was to ensure it included the protections historically contained in the protocol regarding the relationship between the secular and denominational inspectorates. It does, and these appear to be more clearly stated.

"The DfE’s amendment to the proposal for a new one-stop shop school profile also appears be an improvement and is an appropriate response to the comments that we and others made about the importance of understanding the audience for the proposed school profiles.”
