The Holy Father was pleased to be presented with a gift recently from a group of new Catholic teachers from the UK and Ireland, albeit a little later than expected.

During July a group of early career teachers from across the UK and Republic of Ireland visited the Vatican as part of an international diocesan initiative. However, a watercolour of three Augustinian priories, in England, Scotland and Ireland they had hoped to give to the new Pope became lost in transit.

The Most Rev Paul Connell, Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise, was thankfully able to rectify this on 10 September and handed over the watercolour. The Holy Father was delighted and asked for his thanks and blessing for the new school year to be passed on.
