Students at St Paul’s Catholic College, in Burgess Hill, achieved exceptional GCSE results this year, with 35% of students gaining grades 9-7, equivalent to A* and A. Seventy-six per cent of all grades were grades 9-5, a significant increase of 11%, while 86% of students gained a 9-4 grade overall, seeing all their hard work pay off.
These results are the fruits of the hard work, dedication, and motivation of the students in all they have done during their time at St Paul’s. The blessing of supportive families and inspiring teaching and support has once again paid off in results that make all at the Bosco Catholic Education Trust school proud.
Stand-out performances came from Kendra Awuye, Benjy Budibent, George Crofts, Anna Duncan, Jaden Galicia, Isabella Harmey, Sophia Hermoso, Hannah-Ela Liley Caicedo, Harvey Machimbidza, Joel Martin, Holly Reilly, Ava Symons and Harry Vernall who all achieved 10 or more top grades at 9-7.
Sue Homer, Deputy Headteacher and Director of Key Stage 4 said, “We are so pleased to see the joyful celebration of the students today. Year 11 did us all so proud in what they have achieved in their GCSEs and will go on to great things. We look forward to welcoming many of them back to life in the 6th form."
Rob Carter, Executive Headteacher said, “We are overjoyed to share in the happiness and success of the results with the students at GCSE. We know exam results do not define them but they have all flourished and developed with us. We wish them every happiness and success in the next chapter at 6th form and beyond.”
Enrolment for places at the sixth form is now open, with places open to internal and external students.
At Cranmore School in West Horsley, part of Effingham Schools Trust, a third of all grades were awarded 9-8, equivalent to A*, and more than half of all grades were achieved at Grades 9-7, equivalent to A*/A.
Additionally, 77% of all grades were awarded at 9-6, or equivalent to the former A*-B, an increase on last year's impressive achievements, with all these measures more than twice the national average.
Barry Everitt, Headmaster, said: "These results are a testament not only to academic ability, but also to the determination and commitment shown by our Year 11 pupils throughout their studies. There were also some outstanding individual performances, with our highest achieving pupil gaining 10 Grade 9s and a Distinction in Extended Maths. We are also delighted that all of our early-take Year 10 linguists gained the top Grade 9 in French or Spanish."
Meanwhile at St Teresa's, also part of Effingham Schools Trust, grade 9s increased from 10% to 12%, with nearly a third of all grades awarded at grade 8 or 9 and almost half at grade 7 or above.
Stuart Field, Headmaster, said: "At the heart of our success is a commitment to unlocking every pupil's potential through excellent teaching, personalised support and a deep understanding of each individual. Alongside academic achievement, our pupils benefit from outstanding pastoral care, exceptional facilities and a wealth of opportunities that enable them to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
"We congratulate all of our pupils on their achievements and wish them every success as they embark on the next stage of their educational journey. We look forward to welcoming many of them into our co-ed Effingham Sixth Form in September, as they continue their journey with us."
