Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School, in west London, is celebrating a year of excellent GCSE results with a fifth of students achieving the highest grades of 9-7. There were several notable individual successes across a range of subjects including Specalist Science students of which 75% achieved grades 9-8 and a fifth of Religious Education grades at 9-8. Students in Year 11 achieved the school's highest results in a number of years.
Against the national average, Maths was 66% in grades 9-4, with Douay achieving 81% of this. In English, 85% of pupils achieved grades 9-4, once again higher than the national average. The school, which is part of the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust, is especially proud of outcomes in business studies, computer science, geography and RE, where a third of students achieved the highest grades.
The majority of students are expected to continue their education at the school’s Sixth Form, which offers a wide range of A Level and vocational courses and has a higher percentage than the national average of students gaining entry to Russell Group universities each year.
Fiona McCloskey, Headteacher, said: “Congratulations to all our students on their results and hard work. Every student who walked into the exam hall gave their very best, and today we celebrate that. What stands out to me isn't just the grades, but the character these students have shown, the way they have supported one another, pushed themselves, and represented our school with pride. I have watched them grow, and I couldn't be more delighted for them.”
Among the top performers this year was Rose (pictured, top), who achieved grades 9-8 in core subjects. She said: “I’m really happy with my results. The support from my teachers and friends helped me to stay focused and overcome many challenges during the year. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved and excited to see what comes next.”
Another high-achieving student, Ubaid (pictured, above), who achieved grades 9-7 in code subjects, said: “The Douay Martyrs has pushed me to be the best version of myself, both in and out of the classroom. I'm happy with my results and decided to stay on for Sixth Form because I know the teachers, the school, and the high standards we work towards. I'm confident that I can continue to excel at A Level, and perhaps do even better.”
The Douay Martyrs Catholic Secondary School continues to build on its reputation as an aspirational, inclusive, Christ-centred community rooted in faith and love. The school was rated “Outstanding in all areas” in The Catholic Inspectorate Report 2026, with inspectors highlighting the strength of its environment in helping students succeed.
